Today Is Sunday, October 18, 2026: This Is What Happened.

No politics or religion! Just creative and some notes on what going on. I will be hooking up with SUNDAY IN THE ART ROOM.

I was watching an you tube video, from a lady who was grieving lost of her dog. And she was doing some art therapy to help process it. They was number piece she did. But I thought this one was interesting the technique. So I thought I would give it a try.

  1. Put in bright color symbols. So I took the letters from my name “Dora” This is symbols I put in. Delilah, Octopus, Rabbit, and Apple.

  2. Journal or write around the symbols.

  3. Cover with dark color paint, and wipe back. I used a hotel card, for one room.

  4. She put a yellow mark though it. I went with orange instead.

This is just left over paint. Not sure if I'm going to do anything with it. I kinda of like it. But no hurry. The medium I use was acyclic.

The ceramic molds is getting moved out. Freeing up room. Today I'm going at slower pace. Got a load of colors to put in the washing machine. Plus a little later on I will unload the dishwasher. But I plan to no extra projects.

Coffee is on.

  7. Let your piece sit for a while and then come back to it to see if you want to add anything. It's lovely as is.

  11. Using the letters of your name for the drawings is a nice twist, an octopus for one of them is a good pick. The paint wiped back over the dark layer must have been satisfying to do. Orange instead of yellow seems a good call to me.

  13. That sounds like a freeing kind of exercise -- the kind that gets you going and makes you think. I like how you used your name as a start!

  15. You actually might do something with that leftover paint later. I spread leftover paint on an art journal page and come back to it later, often very much later.

  18. It looks like a wonderfully freeing and expressive art exercise! I love the idea of building the symbols around the letters of a name—such a neat way to start a piece.

  19. Love the idea of using your name as inspiration. The orange streak really pops, and I think letting the leftover paint sit is a smart move.

  20. I've tried painting a few things on canvas but that's not my thing. I'm no good at it.

  21. Beautiful technique! The layering, the hidden journaling, and scraping back the paint created such a fascinating, meaningful piece. That orange mark through the middle was a fantastic creative choice, too.
Freeing up space by clearing out the ceramic molds must feel great, but taking the rest of the day slow is the real prize.

  22. It's so good for us to be creative, Dora, and a long time since I painted. I'm following some tutorials on youtube as am rusty. There's a storm over the UK and I hope to walk out in it and feel the wind rushing by, pick up some colourful leaves and maybe be inspired to paint them, You could have a lovely time using the leaves themselves by covering them with your paint and then pressing them on to paper to get lovely results - I might do it too! Always lovely to read your blog, have been absent for some time from Blogland but good to be back. Thanks for always taking the trouble to comment on my posts. Betty
