Yesterday, Murphy and I went to celebrate Wendy's birthday. She is the third granddaughter. The party was held at her maternal Grandmother, Heidi's, place in Spokane, Washington. We had a bison burger with all the trimmings. We also had a choice of cakes. I had a chocolate and carrot cake.
Today, art is a painting of Saint Nicholas; when I hear of St Nicholas, I think of the Netherlands and Father Christmas. Not the country of Turkey. Some of my readers are wondering. Where this is going. Well, I put in search in wiki art. "Myra," which is my mother's name. It came up with St Nicholas, which is located in MYRA. Now part of Antalya.
Something I wonder about in my family history is the surname Munch. Could there be a family connection to these two Munches? The first one would be CARNIAL MUENCH. The other Munch I wonder I'm related to would be the artist EDVARD MUNCH.
My great-great-grandfather Freidrich Munch came from Germany and landed in the United States in 1846 at 16.
Edvard is a famous Norwegian artist. I'm about 21% Scandinavian. But the country of Sweden and Denmark. I have yet to locate any of my ancestors who lived in Scandinavian countries. But it is a roll of the dice regarding your genetics. Plus, borders have changed throughout history.
I traded one of my art cards for this one, my first one from the state of New Jersey.
Coffee is on.
I'm glad you got to go and celebrate with your granddaughter. The cakes sound good.
ReplyDelete...happy family time.

ReplyDeleteI like that artist card. I am also of Scandinavian origin, my DNA is 40% Swedish. From my mother's side. Don't know anything at all about my father's side, but suspect Polish and maybe Russian.
ReplyDeleteMunch is an interesting name!
ReplyDeleteEdvard Munch....The Scream. Wouldn't it be something to be related to him. I live in a state heavily populated by Scandinavians and yet, I'm not Scandi.
ReplyDeleteI looked up my surname and family history and found out my ancestors came from England and Scotland.
