It was a nice warm day, although not hot. I had to force myself to do something. I finished reading "The Bobbsey Twins of Lakeport." There's a whole series of these books. I don't see myself reading any more of them.
I picked this book because it was first published in 1904 when my dad was born. I wondered what people might have read back then. As I was reading, I noticed the book mentioned a station wagon and the Air Force. In 1904, they didn't have either one. To find out these books were redone in the early sixties. I'd like to know if any younger reader reads any of the STRATEMEYERS BOOKS, such as Girls of Central High, Nancy Drew, Rover Boys, etc.
Murphy and I went to the senior center for lunch. They had beef brisket. We also bought a few groceries.
Since it was close to Mother's Day, all the girls lined up and had our picture taken. Plus, all the girls got a rose.
It's been a while since I shared any art, so I decided to share a page from my art journal.
I'm taking part in FACE OFF. I've started work on another set of artist trading cards. My main focus this time is cats, although not everyone is going to be cats.
Coffee is on.
Happy looking bunch! Happy Mother’s Day!
ReplyDeleteI would say so.
DeleteNice that everyone got a rose
ReplyDeleteIt was.
DeleteThat sounds like a very nice Mother's Day meal. Happy Mother's Day from all of us!
ReplyDeleteIt was.
DeleteOh, what sad kitty eyes! Very well done. When I was a little girl in the mid-1960s, the Bobbsey Twins book series was very popular for beginner readers. I read quite a few of them. And I still have one Bobbsey Twins book that I won in Grade 2 for having the most gold stars in spelling, LOL! I don't know why I'm still hanging onto it.
ReplyDelete..I wish you a Happy Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI read the Bobsey Twins when I was little, in the 60's. I read the entire series. We got books at the library. There was little else to do evenings, if there was no homework.
ReplyDeleteA rose each and some cake too. Happy Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteSpring is here, summer is not far off.
ReplyDeleteThat's really sweet that they gave you a rose Dora. And I am loving your journaling also. sounds like you've been busy. I hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI read many of the original Bobbsey Twins books when I was a young reader.
ReplyDeleteThe first book that I ever read was The Bobbsey Twins at the Seashore. It was 1955 and I was 7.
ReplyDeleteHow nice of the center to give ladies a rose. They are a thoughtful group. Nice seeing you continuing with art.
ReplyDeleteA very nice photo and wonderful art. It is special that each of you were given a rose. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteI like your journal pages, and eyes and wonder how you'll interpret everyone as cat's eyes. I appreciate your words too

I've heard of the Bobbsey Twins, but more like in the '60s. I didn't ever read the books, though.
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you were each given a rose.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a happy mothers day (here in the UK we celebrate ours in March)
All the best Jan
