Today Is Sunday, August 27, 2023: This Is What Happened

On P.B.S I watch a program on the Sabbath. I wasn't raised in a faith-based family. My parents had ethics and morals. But they are far from having angel halos or devil horns. But I'm actually taking an entire day off. I don't recall it ever happening. At times, they took a slower pace. My parents would stop and become; it was when we had company. That would be the closest thing to a Sabbath.

I remember a day when stores closed on Sunday.

But in this story. It was mentioned about giving the earth a day of rest. I would like to know if we had one day a week to let the earth rest. Would we have such an issue with the climate?

I take life at a slower pace 2 days and 2 days after the noon moon.

Just back to stores closed on Sunday. One day, I was at a grocery store and used a coupon from the sale circular. The checker asked me if I wanted the circular back. I said to her, "Sale is over tomorrow." Then she said, "Some people come in a couple times a day." As I was leaving, I wondered about the cost.

Tonight, for dinner, we had rockfish, southwest salad, and rice.

But before that, Murphy and I put on the inside part of our kitchen door. But the drill bit broke. So tomorrow, we need to go to town and get a new drill bit. Plus, we also need to take care of house insurance. That went up to about $1,200 a year, and pick up some groceries.

Did up my bullet journal for the week. Later on, I'll read and work on a few bullet journal pages.

Coffee is on, and stay safe.

  1. Your upbringing sounds much like mine...My parents had ethics and morals. But they are far from having angel halos or devil horns!!! The best of both worlds I say!!!!

And I still wish nothing was open on Sundays. I can remember when I was very little the only thing open would be grocery and drug stores.

  2. A Jewish identity was important to my parents, but we were not particularly observant, We belonged to a synagogue but seldom went, except in major ho,idays. My grandmother lit Sabbath candles every Friday night, my mother did not.

  3. While so often things seem cheaper there, it doesn't seem like house insurance is very cheap.

  4. I remember when everything was closed on Sundays except petrol (gas) stations past the outskirts of town. Most people made sure to fill their cars on Saturdays and extra groceries were bought on Saturday mornings because the shops were closed on Saturday afternoons.

...I love your thought that we give the Earth one day of rest each week - that would be so good for just about everything!!! YAM xx

  6. We are taking our Earth for granted, no doubt. Earth does needs some rest. I wonder how it can be done. That's the tough part.

  7. My parents observed Sundays pretty well although going to church twice was not exactly resting.

  8. I should write about my father and churches.

  9. Our house insurance went up this year too. Post tropical storm Fiona and its havoc on island homes caused that rise in insurance rates here.

  12. We weren't particularly religious, either. But most of the Sunday closures were a thing of the past when I was growing up.

A few days ago, we woke up to snow in the mountains. By now, we usually have a skiff in the yard. This morning, Murphy and I went to two...
