Today Is Thursday, August 17, 2023: This Is What Happened.

This week, I have been taking it at a slower pace. That doesn't mean that I don't do anything. I decreased our plastic bags that came from our stores. As I worked on the bags. How many states and countries use plastic bags. There are 8, 9, or 10 states that have banned plastic bags. I thought they would have been more. I keep telling myself to take non-plastic bags into the store. Haven't got into the habit of it.

I grumble about all the plastics companies use. I look at three companies that don't use plastic containers or wraps. Took a little time to look up food companies that are more or less environmentally friendly. Here are three companies...EARTH COSUSTAINABLE FOOD BRAND, and PENJI.

Only 4 of the brands I know we have in our local stores.

So the food bank, library, and senior center will get plastic bags. We have too many of them.

We change the sheets on our bed.

My lunch, left over salmon, cottage cheese with blueberries, and grain bread toasted.

Sure is smokey.

Since it is smokey. We haven't been outdoors. I went into the basement a few times and got on the treadmill. I find treadmills boring. Hopefully, the smoke will dissipate. We may have some wind coming out of the southwest tomorrow (August 18, 2023). It could move the smoke out. But on the other hand, it could make it harder for the firefighter to fight the fires. Or move current smoke out and new smoke in.

There is a slight chance of rain on Monday (August 21, 2023) for the rest of the month. Usually, it doesn't rain study at all in August.

Think it was this month. I was shopping and overheard a conversation. I know it consists of one male. Dark hair and beard. I don't know who the second person in the discussion was. Never took mental notes.

But what I heard, I found disturbing. This is what I heard. "We need to get rid of the liberals in this area."

Not saying it isn't possible. Or it could be possible. I haven't heard someone leaning to the left or getting rid of someone with different thoughts.

Then I worked on updating our wall calendar. The items in red ink are prioritized things. The ones in green ink are not prioritized. Most of the stuff on the calendar is in green. Worked some on the bullet journal.

  3. I would stuff as many plastic bags into one bag as will fit.and then drop them off at one of the places you plan to. Keep just one bag and keep it in your regular shopping tote so it is ready to use when you need it. People here are mostly used to bringing reuseable bags to the shops now, they keep them in their car or by the front door, so they see them and remember to take them.

  4. Here in NY the law says grocery stores cannot give you a plastic bag. You can either buy a paper bag for $.05 or you can bring your reusable bags. Most people have opted for reusable bags. Once you get into the habit of bringing bags with you, it’s easy.

  5. I know our city just banned plastic bags...and I was overjoyed! I can't stand plastic bags. I've been using reusable canvas or burlap bags for close to 20 years now. And at least I know the damn handles won't rip.

  6. Our province has banned single use plastic bags like that. There's still so much plastic that I don't think it accomplishes much.

  7. I hate plastic bags and use cloth reusable for grocery shopping, but still end up with plastic ones because you have to put the produce in something before you put it in your cart. .... We keep busy in the house too on hot smoky days which is what we have here too now. It's going to get better soon.

  9. I loathe the single use plastic bags, they don't even make good bags. My favorite organic farmer at the market is forever stuffing things in plastic bags faster than I can say, NO, thank you, I have this nice canvas bag.

  10. I hate the treadmill and only use it if the weather is ridiculous, which it is today. Yuck!

  12. My state banned plastic bags. Many stores put out signs to remind people to bring bags in. I keep mine in my car, just behind my passenger seat, and so I'm in the habit of bringing them in when I shop. But this habit took a long time to establish. Worth it.

Have you considered listening to podcasts or watching TV while on the treadmill? It is boring, but if you got your mind on something else... Maybe listen to audiobooks?
