It has been a while since I played, Words on Friday. Today words are being supplied by CHARLOTTE, and I will be using the second set of words; fog, nutcracker, belt, mushroom, room, and remember.
It was a cool fall morning with plenty of dew on the ground, and fog had settled into the valley. Sally had planned to do some baking for next month’s pot-luck with the local book club. She belongs to. They finished reading “Mushroom Dusty” during the pot-luck. Jane will be bringing Mushroom Soup with beef.
Linda got out her nutcracker and started cracking some walnuts she needed for her banana bread. People ask her to bring her banana bread, and it is so moist. She and everyone in her family uses their great Aunt Mable’s recipes.
It takes about 20 minutes to prep and mix up the bread. This time she had to crack the nuts. So a little longer time.
Before she could start, it was a good thing she went and checked her freezer for nuts. Well, she had none. So the local market is not far from her home. They had a special one, whole walnuts. She bought five pounds. Later on, she will crack the rest and freeze them.
As the bread was baking, she got out what she planned to wear and placed the clothing on the bed. She jumped in the shower and was out in less than 10 minutes.
She got herself in a blue dress she had worn for a few years. Last week she stopped in at a thrift store on the south side of town. And found a thin silver belt on the .50¢ rack.
The book club meets at the library’s main branch on oak street. So half past five, she headed out and started to head to the library. At the second stop light, she suddenly remembered her banana bread.
So in the McDonald’s parking lot, she turned around and headed home to get the bread.
A little over a dozen people were in the room; the club used the larger room. Soon they went through the food line and started to eat. A young teenager and one of the book club members were walking by the entrance. Ask him to draw out of the can for their next read.

On Wednesday the 28th, I went to art at the local fairgrounds. And we all have our personal seeds and what they bloom out to be. Then at home on the other side. I did up some umbrellas. Sometimes an umbrella is used to hide or as protection.
Hopefully, I can participate in ART JOURNAL in August, although I’m not sure what the theme is. But I like a challenge.
So far, retirement is going along nicely. I was planning to do the floors. But the weather changes my mind. I am going to the senior center for lunch.
Coffee is on, and stay safe.
...it's so hot here that I'm doing as little as possible.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a delicious book club lunch.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your lunch at the senior centre - I hope it is as good as the one in your story.
I like the umbrellas.
ReplyDeleteNice to have options now.

We cancelled plans for yesterday due to our heat and humidity. But now, you have me craving banana bread. No, I don't want to bake. But I may make some blueberry quick bread tomorrow, when it's supposed to be cooler. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
