As many of you know I been posting photos of art from each state of the union. I have no art training and what I learn friends have given me pointers. I did take photography in high school. Before digital came around.
One might wonder if I like all the pieces I have posted. The forward answer would be “No” Is there type or genre I like. I'm a fan of surrealism. Confession time...There is surrealism I don't care for.
But the main reason about my art post. Is art I don't care for, is what I call “Gag Art” I don't know which genre or category it falls under. To me, it just to perfect. These people in this painting is putting on act. No feeling. Everything has no flaws, or short comings.
Statement time...Those kids aren't going to challenge there parents, or question anything. Plus I wonder what under the couch. Deep dark secrets.
The other art I'm not fan of is “Abstract” maybe if I under stood it more. I might have a different out look. Lot of to me makes no sense to me. Quite bit of it looks like someone just made big mess. Have trouble making heads or tails out of it.
Confession time...There is gag art and abstract art I like. But in all honesty I would prefer abstract over gag art.
The last Sunday of the month I like to visit a new or blog that I might of stop by ages ago. Usually I start to one I consider a coffee pal. That what I call my blogger friends. I'm going to stop over to one of SHE WHO SEEK I believe I found two bloggers, now I visit on regular bases.

My first comment I like to share came from BASTLMANIA and here is her comment...Glad your looking after your self!....I wish I did when I was younger. As we age we realize how important health is.
My second comment I like to share came from RIVER and here is her comment...I hope Regis settle down. Why is college degree is so important? At this stage in our life I don't think it would make any difference and not be worth cost or trouble. You wouldn't use it to get better paying job, since your winding down to retirement. You are managing fine without one...But than I notice BLOG FODDER left comment about college...If you go to college now, go for enjoyment and edification. What would enjoy learning about? No education is wasted if it improves your mind...A degree at my age and community isn't important. But I love to learn and for some reason I need to be challenge. I have no ideal what I would study, a little bit of this and that. Maybe Japanese, Archaeology, moving image arts, economics, sociology. Or what every hit my fancy.
A few degree here is helpful, one in education, therapist, medical field. Any other degree one would have to move to anther area. Than in Boundary County. Plus most I would have to be self taught or find a class on line.
I did mange to get to the tarot tea. I was surprise how many came. About a dozen. More later on. Heavy gray clouds.

Perfect harmony art is really really abstract like the little family there. Lots of secrets in their closets for sure.

ReplyDeleteI painted myself for more then 20 years made exhibitions etc. I don't like the paintings which show the persons like a photo ! I mostly painted cats but not real once they were in all colors. At the end I loved modern art painting it's far more difficult as you would believe. Now I prefer to take photos !
ReplyDeleteNever heard of “Gag Art” before. The kids in the painting could grow up to think for themselves (if it were real, of course). It does happen.

ReplyDeleteNever heard of Gag Art... never quite understood Abstract Art. I'm more impressed with Realism which seems to me to require a great deal of skill that not every Artist might possess and be able to pull off successfully? I like Tattoo Art and over the Years it has progressed considerably from the Old Styles... the Body being a temporary Canvas and the Art being Lost once they're gone unless they sat for Photos immortalizing it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about Gag Art. Abstract Art is difficult to understand. I like paintings 2, 5 & 6.
ReplyDeleteThe family picture just looks to me like everyone sitting around while Dad reads a bedtime story, or perhaps the Bible. I don't see how that translates to deep dark secrets under the couch.
ReplyDeleteI've never like abstract art. It does look like a mess, or a mistake to me. Looks like a kindergarten kid drop a bucket of paint. Leaves me cold. I like the family scene and think it fairly represents a time gone by; when families gathered to read to each other because they didn't have tv perhaps. Now, do I buy that was "normal" America...no. We were taught or perhaps brain washed to think it was the way everyone acted but, as we grow up and have life experiences, we realize how false that statement is. Surprised to hear you only have 2 blogs that you follow. I visit everyone on my blog log each time I write a new post. I read their posts, and always leave a comment. If they've not written a new post since I was last there; I generally just say popping in to say hi. Blogging to me is the interaction between writers/bloggers and commentors/bloggers.

DeleteThe universities around here have extension courses for the community that aren't for people seeking a degree. I hope you have something like that around you. Unless you plan to go back for a bachelor's or something. Nothing wrong with either option.
