My friend and I went shopping at our local thrift stores. We have three of them. I pretty well knew what I was out to get.
One things on list was to get a few warmer tops. Since I have boobs and no shoulder usual I struggle to find tops.
If they fit in one difficult part of my body they other part it does fit.
One sweater I believe it was under $4.00
Actual I got quite a few I thought was good deal. Not going to show everything I found.
Got three purse.
Only going to show two of them. The small colorful one I paid $3.50 and the dogie one I got it for $2.00.
The third one is green one. I been eye balling it for a while.
Confession time...I need to stay out of any ideal or items I can make crafts out of. I end up getting some nursing scrubs. I did limited my self to four of them to each thrift store. At community thrift I end up putting the four scrubs back.
And a few other items
Simple reason they don't handle bank cards. And the only thing they take is personal check and cold hard cash.
My grand daughter items comes first.
Picked up book on felting. Seen a few piece done although clueless how it even done. Both like how it looks and feels.
Not sure what this book has in it. But I like to make a St Bridget doll. I believe most of our corn dolls. But I can see being made of felt.
St Bridget doll is for IMBOLC
I did get anther book on quilting. Books were a dollar pieces.
No hurry but I strongly considering adding ad words to my blog. There been a few blogs I notice that it hard to sort though the content and the ads.
A simple yet small add on buttom of my blog.
Confession time....I don't see what wrong picking up a few extra dollars here and there.

Ads are not for my blog, but I don't see harm in trying it. If it is more bother than it is worth, I am sure it easy to stop.
ReplyDeleteThose purses are so cool! My husband loves going to thrift stores. He doesn't buy purses, though. That I know of...
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing at all wrong with picking up a few extra dollars here and there, as long as it's legal. I don't want ads on my blog. I don't get enough traffic to make any money anyway, but I have enough money to get by. No savings, but no debts either. I love that striped bag. I used to have one, but it just wasn't big enough to hold everything I like to carry.
ReplyDeleteI like the purses very much, that's the kind I like ! I just bought a very similar one here in Egypt ! Funny !
ReplyDeleteNo ads for me either Dora, don't want the hassle for my readers. You did really well on your shopping spree, picked up some excellent things.
ReplyDeleteP.s. yes we do have iced coffee in Perth ✨
Totally love the doggy purse!
ReplyDeleteHello, I like the cute purses. The colorful one looks like one I purchased in Costa Rica from a local stand. The doggy purse is cute. I like the felt craft, very cute. I assume if you have ads on your blog, you make money from the ad? I am not sure, I do not like the ads either. Enjoy your day, have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love that colorful purse! Reminds of Jamaica!

ReplyDeleteLoving those bags!
There is no harm at all in gather some extra cents where you can; however, as you have spotted yourself, the ads can overpower a page. Think about the content of the blogs you have have seen with ads in them. Does your content compete for that attention? To make ads work, the blog would need to have a drawcard to enlarge but also stabilise your audience - it's a fair bet the blogs you see ads on have a dominant theme such as being a lifestyle blog, a foodie blog, a fashion blog and so on. Also, as you will have gathered, most of your current readers are not interested in ads - there are plenty of those to wade through on commercial sites.
As Andrew says above, you can always try it then cancel if it proves not worth the doing. Three months would be a fair trial period. Think of it exactly the same way as setting up a market stall. What are your wares? Could I make another suggestion? To try this out, why not open another blog, with adsense on and base it entirely upon - for example - tarot. Exploring all meanings of the cards one by one. Make it a twice-weekly posting blog (Saturday and Wednesday, say). That way, you will not compromise this blog which has your day to day themes and it will give you a year to find out how adsense works for you...
I know how it is, looking for those little extras to come in and I also know all to well how hard they are to come by. YAM xx
I have no problem with a few ads on your blog. DO IT!!
ReplyDeleteYou found some neat purses. Even if your blog was peppered with ads, I'd still read it.
ReplyDelete...thrifty shopping is the way to go!
ReplyDeleteThose bags are so cute
ReplyDeleteI love thrift stores. I have to stay out of them or I buy too much.
ReplyDeleteDo some research on adwords. The people I have known who have tried it have never collected anything. Google pulls the rug out from underneath you if their servers suspect you are doing anything remotely resembling advertising and it could be something as simple as "I went to the XYZ restaurant yesterday and it was good." Anyway, just check it out is all.
The bags are so colorful - love that!
ReplyDeleteAds won't hurt, so why not?
ReplyDeleteI don't think I "got" felting until I saw it done. I bet there are some YouTube videos that go through the process. I initially saw it on some craft show on TV, or I'd point you to a good video to check out.
