He then attended the University of Idaho until he entered the Army and was stationed in occupied Germany until he was released honorably in 1952. He resumed work for the Forest Service until he left to operate a small logging company in the Bonners Ferry area for several years, and after which he was once again employed by the Forest Service in Coeur d'Alene, until his retirement in 1983. He then traveled extensively in the western U.S., Canada, Alaska, as well as Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand.
He was an avid fisherman and spent the summer months fishing for many years at a retreat in Montana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William XXXX, and a sister, Bernice XXXX. He is survived by his long time companion, Living in Coeur d'Alene, a brother, Living in Pendleton, and several nieces and nephews.

It looks like the week leading up to Samhain was a very busy time this year for the end of journeys on this earth at this time. Not only did your uncle's friend Jim pass, and my uncle, but the uncle of a friend of mine, Garnet's mom, and it seems one or two other people that I've heard about. A great many evidently "felt" that this was the ideal time for them to make the cross-over. Prayers said for the peace of Jim's friends & family.
