Today Is Wednesday, October 7, 2026: This Is What Happened.

The weather been very nice, although I hear the temps will be dropping over the weekend. I don't think all that much.

I liked to address more about zine. I only ran into one person in my county knows what a zine is. Not saying there isn't other who know what is a zine is.

It comes from the word magazine. They took the maga part off. So it a self publish of any or more than one topic. Usually they're a limited, short run publication. Sold cheaply, given freely, and or traded. It said that THOMAS PAINE was the first one to do zine in American. And his zine is called COMMON SENSE. There many lay out and folds for zine. There is endless ways of doing a zine. No one has true count of zine. But the library of congress has collection of them.

Over at NIGHT CAFE. I'm going to copy and paste line, 12, 13, and 14. In to prompt, and see what Night Cafe comes up with. Some time it way out there. The other day I put in prompt To see about getting my zine, done up. This is my first one. So for lunch we had liver, less than 10 show up. My up coming zine has nothing to do with liver.

I haven't done a surname. But I think I will copy and past line, 23, 24, and 25.

I'm going to see what info I can learn about VanHorn. My husband Murphy has a lot of surname starts with Van. The VanHorn is on my mother father side....and I notice there different spellings.

I could mean point on land, or someone who plays a horn. Some were town crier, All the VanHorn should be able to trace there line to three bothers, that came to America.

They're is 3 well known Vanhorn,,,WILLIAM VANHORN, SIR WILLIAM CORNELIUS VAN HORNE, JOHANNES VAN HORNE

We're having salmon patties for dinner. Not sure what else. I'm linking to UBC

  3. Oh yes, I know what zines are -- they are very popular form of self-publishing among artists, poets, cartoonists, and other creative people who want a tangible form of their work but have no money to produce a fancy publication.

Sir William Cornelius Van Horne is a very important figure in Canadian history -- he was the American railroad magnate who oversaw the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) right across Canada in the 1880s. The building of the CPR allowed Canada to be a united country and brought settlers to the Canadian West.

  5. There have been some politically themed zines that various online entities have put out of late. They make it so you can print them off and distribute them in your location.

  6. I know what a zine is. I actually made one about healthy living with a friend a while back—I think I still have it somewhere. It’s in the form of a little booklet, but with extra slips of paper you can pull out from certain spots. I used materials from magazines to make it.

Best regards, and feel free to check out my new painting :)

  10. Love the history lesson on zines, Peppylady! Handcrafted, independent publications are timeless, and I can't wait to see how yours turns out (even if it's completely liver-free!).
The VanHorn surname deep dive is fascinating, too—connecting the roots back to early Dutch settlers and town criers makes history come alive.
Hope you have fun playing with NightCafe today, and stay warm this weekend!

  11. I had heard of zines. I haven't read one in a long time. They weren't zines, but for a while in junior high (what middle school was called back then) and high school I wrote satirical comics about school life and the teachers and passed them around...until I got caught, that is. Oh, and according to AI, the three men all the Van Horns can be traced back to were not brothers. Modern DNA testing shows none of them were related but it's still interesting.
