Today Is Friday, June 5, 2026: This Is What Happened

Quite windy outside. But I have the slider open to feel the air move. We didn't even get an inch of rain for the month.

I thought this might be a good time to answer the question of HELS, and her question. What are laundry sheets? There compress sheet with laundry sheet, for your washing machine. I been quite happy with the ones I been using. 120 sheets last me for about six months.

I been working on cutting back my carbon foot print. Using less plastic. I'm think of looking at using bleach sheets. But in honest I don't go though bleach all that much. One of my complaints about the senior food give away is the plastic involved, and carbon foot print. It gets me that they except us as citizen need to watch their carbon foot print. But when I go into a store, there plenty of plastic.

I still want to look up the plumbing effect and laundry sheets soap. I've been happy with my laundry sheets.

Had to get the brake fix on the car. Nothing cheap with owning a car. I live to far out in the country, for public transport. I been trying to mange going into to town. And making the trip less costly. I notice gas came down a little in price here. .20¢ a gallon.

I didn't go to my water color class last Wednesday, because I had gone in earlier and didn't want to make second trip in to town.

Murphy and I went to town, and our first stop was the library. I made an appointment with tech lady, We need to do get my husband phone, up and running again. The 20th or around then. I'm heading to Medford Oregon.

Then we went to the senior center, and we had a Turkey dinner with all the trimming. I like to give the yams high praise. I don't know what they use for spices. I will ask. So dinner will be lighter, as in the amount of food.

We didn't get our food box, but they had quite the crowd. It in the walk in cooler. I will get Monday or Tuesday. But we got three bags of food although. I grab a purple cabbage weigh in at 3.6 pounds or 1,632 grams.

Last time I was at art up at Greta place. We did blind contour drawings. We drew each other with out looking at our paper, and not lifting up our drawing instrument. Afterward we pass our journals for about 1.5 minutes we got to do what every we want to them.

It was quite interesting and fun.

I'm linking to FACE OFF

Coffee is on.

  1. Hi Dora. This is a very nice post and I love this art. Our gas has come done .10 cents a gallon. That isn't very much. I agree everything at our stores is plastic and more plastic. Everything one buys in a container is plastic. Hard to get away from it. Your lunch at the S.C. sounds so good. I enjoy a good turkey dinner. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a very nice weekend.

  3. We need a car even in a town, at least one of any size. You might not need one in a village, but then you’re stuck in a small space.

  5. Hello Dora, I haven't been blogging for a while so will catch up on your previous posts a bit but it looks like you are having fun with your painting group. I think your fuel costs are less than us - in the UK we are currently paying £1.56 per litre average for unleaded petrol. World events like US/Iran conflict and Russia/Ukraine war are impacting greatly on our country. Shortage of fertiliser for our farms is now coming down the track and means that by next Spring if not sooner we will get food shortages. Our government is obsessed with net zero so there's a good chance that we are doing way too much for the planet as we are piddling island and India/China are doing so much damage it makes our efforts futile. I haven't seen bleach or laundry sheets here so will look into it. We had a heat wave and then we just coming out of a heavy wet spell. Everyone here is on about chem trails (controlling the weather from the sky), have you heard anything about that in your part of the world? Betty

  7. Yeah, you have to plan your outings. Timings and distances. To conserve gas. I bought gas for $5.09/gallon today, but got 20 cents off per gallon due to grocery points. Every little bit helps.

  8. I like contour drawing, as it forces you to really focus on the lines and shapes of the subject you're working on. Blind contour is a fun exercise too, as it's very freeing. The way it was conducted in your class sounds extra fun.

  9. Thank you!
Our countries may have English as our national language, but our versions may be changing - in vocabulary, grammar, spelling and accent. I don't mind, but I was trying to answer questions in a tv quiz programme (Lingo, UK) and didn't recognise every word.

  10. The senior center in your city is really kind and generous. Hopefully they would also cut down some plastic package. Can you bring your own boxes, bags or something?

  11. Dora, anything you do to reduce your footprint is a good thing ,..

Gas prices are slowly coming down around here, too. Still way too high, though, Makes me happy I drive a hybrid.

  13. We just replaced the brakes in the car. Very costly. Next is tires. I am grateful we don't need to drive much and we are more thoughtful about how we time things when we do. You have a wonderful senior center.

  14. Cars are definitely expensive to drive AND keep maintained properly. Love the drawings you created. You have a generous Senior Center. I have a thing about plastic, too. Seems no matter where you go, it's everywhere. Even when I buy veggies in paper/cardboard containers, they are covered in thin sheets of plastic. Thanks for sharing your concerns, too. Happy belated FFO.

  15. I completely agree with you, there is way too much plastic. I try to use as little as possible, but it is not easy. Your drawings are fun!

  16. Kudos to you for trying to reduce your plastic and driving, Peppy! I try to do both as well. Some days it feels almost hopeless, but we can't give up! Have a wonderful week!

  17. My brother got me an electric bike. I haven't ridden it yet because it came with half deflated tires and I can't find my tire pump. I can take it to get groceries and most errands and not pay gas, if it doesn't get stolen. I can't believe my brother got me such a gift but it sure will be helpful with gas expense.
