Sure smokey. There plenty of fires burning around us. Although we don't see any flames which is good. Actually I like going outside. But with smoke it doesn't really allow me to go out and joy the mountain air. I understand rain is heading this way. Got my finger cross when rain comes that the lighting won't over power it.
I'm amaze how some people. Not sure if there actual people. I'm talking about the maga ones. Those Trump supporters. Some guy in the senior center thought Trump was for the working people. And that those tariffs was going help the majority of people. At this point the tariffs has put slight change on how we live. Then someone else said the demarcates just want to hand out free stuff. Statement time...Ones needs to qualify. Each of safety net program ones has guidelines. Opinion time...Most of them needs to be updated.
This post was inspired by High Rise, and DRIVING. I understand young people isn't all that interested in driving. Driving is done by each state. When I was in high school back in the mid 70's it was offered after school, and it cost $20, that includes a learner permit. You had 15½. That was in the state of Washington. Although my friends which wasn't all that smart, and teenagers really don't make great choices. I had actually start driving around 13 years old. A few times I had to drive my dad home from the local drinking establishments. So after driving lesson I got my driving license when I was 16. And my driving test. I scored a 98% which was a the highest of that class.
Now driver education is quite expensive now. In United States it will run between $400 and $800. Or one can wait til there 18 years old. And take that state written and driving test. With out driving-lesson your insurance will be at higher rate. Until your 25 years old. I'm thinking what my son had to pay for driving – lesson. I know it was under $400. Thinking it was between $200 and $250. Plus I understand cruising isn't a thing now days.
Took Murphy to the eye appointment for his pre-op for his cataract surgery on the 20th.
Coffee is on.
I took driver’s ed in high school, and then my parents paid a driving school for extra lessons. My kids also took driver’s ed, and I also gave them extra lessons with a driving school.
ReplyDeleteDriver's ed was a requirement for me to graduate. I had it 3rd period my sophomore year. Alas, my class was the last to do it. Right after my class, they disbanded it, and classes thereafter had to do it on their own dime. (My little brother got stuck doing it after school and such.)
ReplyDelete...it has been hazy here from the smoke of Canadian wild fires.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for some rain that won’t spark more fires, so you and Murphy can get that fresh mountain air back soon. Sending good vibes for the surgery and hoping coffee keeps fueling your day!
ReplyDeleteI hope the fires stay way far away from you.
ReplyDeleteYou were very young when you began driving. I think it is a good idea for children to begin driving at a young age.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some rain soon.
We could smell smoke today from the fire in a nearby province. It was awful.
ReplyDeleteDriving lessons are good. They are expensive in India too.
ReplyDeleteDriving lessons are not cheap but worth doing. I don't drive at all.
ReplyDeleteMy father insisted that I get a driving license at 16, then handed me keys to the pickups and said, take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteWe have had a lot of smoke alerts. It keeps me inside, but then so does the humidity. I had drivers ed in high school. I don't think we had to pay anything, it was part of the curriculum.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid. You could get a learners permit at 15-1/2 and that is what everybody did. You could get a drivers license at 16 and everybody did that as well.
ReplyDeleteNow the kids are more relaxed about it.
It's so sad to hear about the fires and the smoky air, it must be so disappointing to not be able to enjoy the beautiful mountain air. I really hope the rain comes soon and helps clear things up without any more lightning.
ReplyDeleteThe wildfires in North America sound really scary 🔥. And yep – that’s another thing some MAGA folks think has nothing to do with T*ump. But it actually does, because he and his crew keep claiming that climate change has nothing to do with our lifestyle… which is why nothing changes or improves 🌎.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for Murphy’s cataract surgery on the 20th 🐾.
All the best from Austria,

I hope the smoke clears out soon. We finally (New York State) got a respite. About driving - I grew up in New York City, where the age to get a license was (and still is) 18. In fact the last I knew, if you had a valid license from any state, you still had to be 18 to drive. And, when I was growing up, the high schools did not offer drivers ed - mine didn't, anyway.

DeleteHere rain again. I´d like to send it over to you!
ReplyDeleteEverything is expensive.
ReplyDeleteI hope that rain came. We had wild fire smoke from Canada last week and it wasn't good. And it is amazing how many people think Trump will help them when in fact he isn't nor could care less if he does. Too bad we can't change those people's minds-smile. Have a great new week.
