Today painting was done by Hanndon Sundblom. In 1950 the same year my husband was born.
I watch Trump speech last night. I only got two thing to say. I hope he doesn't get vote in. And what an A HOLE.
This morning they had news story on how much energy that all these world wide web company use, and how they are contributing to climate crisis. Including Google, A.I and I'm sure there quite a list of other web and social media companies also contributing to the climate crisis. In today world these companies are part of our life. But my question the people who uses in web more less for entertainment. Can't come up a better word. I would fall under this category. If we disconnected one day a week. Would it bring down the climate crisis?
Coffee Is On.
I don't know if going offline one day a week would help curb the climate crisis. My husband and I take an average of one computer-free day a month. I think it would be more helpful if not so many trees were cut down in the rainforests... and not so much unnecessary stuff was produced.
ReplyDeleteAll the best and happy weekend, Traude

From what I read, its the AI for commercial and industrial purposes that is eating up so much energy. Also, I think the bitcoin miners are chewing up lots of power also. I think if all the hobby bloggers in world went completely offline I don't think it would even make a small blip in total power consumption.
ReplyDelete...I watched reruns of Mash instead.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the tRUMP.
ReplyDeleteConsidering how the world almost came to a stop today because of Microsoft …
ReplyDeleteYeah, that AI (and cryptocurrency) sure eats up resources. But corporations are so all in that they don't seem to care. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteWell Melania is gorgeous
ReplyDeleteI don't think the big money making companies give a hoot about the climate
ReplyDeleteI’d use the computer one day a week if it would help the climate.
ReplyDeleteI saw trump on tv with his huge white bandage and had to laugh hard at all his followers also wearing huge white bandages on their ears.
ReplyDeleteI don't think a few hundred hobby bloggers like us make a lot of difference, it's the big corporations and spammers that use up so much internet time and resources.
The bitcoin miners are a terrible scourge on energy and the chip makers and data centers consume so much energy and water too. After the fiasco of worldwide chaos produced by one blunder from a microsoft security vendors update, I think to myself lets just scrap the whole thing and go back to books, pencil and paper.
ReplyDeleteGreat assessment of HWSNBN
