Last night I went to a dance performance at our local high school. My friend Lolita's grandchildren, were in the show. It was a lovely show.
Since I'm on the subject of Lolita. She lives in a Senior trailer park. She owns her trailer but leases the spot her trailer is set apart.
One day she received a letter with no letter heading saying she couldn't have guests only for 14 days, in one year period. To find out her lease wasn't written up that way. She asked around, and only one other person received such a letter.
So her daughter Lisa, got a lawyer to discuss the issue. It is totally illegal what they're doing. I know we all have opposition. But Lolita, like me, has a limited income. Her social security is under 1,000 a month. I'm worried the landlord won't let up on her. Once her daughter leaves.
Part I thought was amazing was that the landlord had the nerve to say they would charge her hotel rate for her to have guests.
Also yesterday. I organized my art supplies, but they are still not coming out as it needs to be. But if I had an equal size suitcase. The other thing I told myself is if I can't fit my creative supplies in two suitcases. I need to make the choice of getting rid of some items.
Today Murphy and I put on a door sweep on our living room door. Hopefully, it helps keep the cold out in the winter. And then, in the summer keeps the heat out.
Then, this morning, I walked to the fourth power line pole.
Finish watching Where Angels Fear to Tread. It is not a horrible movie. But it is a little below adventurer. I would be disappointed if I spent money on it. Well, I guess I did. The gas to the library.
Today Musician is from North Dakota. I'm clueless about this band called GHOST BATH. Sharing a creative menu. My eyes are open to a different genre. Let's take listen to BREATHE TO THE SHADE TREE.
...corporations are trailer parks and jumping up the rents! It's a BIG problem.
ReplyDeleteI just bought a new chest of drawers from IKEA to put all my art supplies in and centralize them all in one spot, so I can find what I need when I need it. Right now they're scattered all over the place. I will get organized starting next week, once my art lessons are done for the summer.
ReplyDeleteShe could " have guests only for 14 days, in one year period."?!?! I have never heard of something so stupid. I guest even in trailer parks, people aren't safe from all the dumb rules and gauging price hikes.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that last artowork.
It sounds like a way to make extra income by the trailer park by imposing an illegal rule.
ReplyDeleteStrange "laws" ! Nice pictures
ReplyDeleteIt is incredible what that landlord is trying to do to your friend. The extent of some peoples’ greed knows no bound!
ReplyDeleteDon't think a landlord can do that. She owns the home.
ReplyDeleteSo glad I own
ReplyDeleteThat is unfair to Lolita. Good photos by the way.
ReplyDeleteGreedy landlord.
ReplyDeleteThat is weird and wrong.
ReplyDeleteWow, that letter to Lolita is outrageous.
ReplyDeleteAnd how do they know that someone's been staying with your friend longer than 14 days? Who's watching things like that?
ReplyDeleteI suspect the trailer park owners are trying to force your friend out so they can charge the next tenant plenty more for lot rent than Lolita pays under her current lease. They probably guess (correctly) that your friend doesn't have much in the way of resources. I can only hope that a letter (or two) from that lawyer will help but Lolita really is in a bind and lawyers cost money. And your state law may not give your friend lot of protection. She owns the trailer but not the land it is on. And, as Tom pointed out, large, greedy corporations are buying up a lot of these trailer parks. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThat trailer park owner is a real horses patoot!
