Thought I would combine both Tuesday and Wednesday going on, together. I was tired after work Tuesday and not much happen.
Tuesday morning before I went work. Hubby and I went down to Naples fire station and voted for the local SCHOOL BOND . Well it didn't pass! 1,422(40.9 %) vote yes, for it. And 2,051 (59%) vote no, for it. Sad. It gives me ideal way our library will be going.
Had a morning read in and CNN was there doing a story about our read in. I heard some where in Virginia is starting to do a read in. Plus other media is picking up our read in.

There will a library board meeting tomorrow morning (September 1) at 9AM. It on the budget. The library board recall group seems not employed. My guess they are ON THE DOLE. Statement time...They're is time for government help. But if there government hand out is a little late, they groan and bitch.
The recall group is saying they are the majority at meeting. The ones who goes work can't get the time off. There thinking of having it in the evening. So more can voice our opinions. But I was impress with all the LOCAL PEOPLE SIGN THE LETTER, it should be in the Herald tomorrow
This afternoon I went over To Regis and we had taco. But Qunella and I had a cup of coffee at under the sun. We went over to Bonner Book to pick up our pins. I order a book, BANNED BOOKS. By the time the next read in. I will be done with Woman Voices, by Olga Kenyon. Probably I will be reading THE ABSOLUTELY TRUE DIARY OF A PART TIME INDIAN or Banned Books
I did get my morning walk in. And today art is from KYRGYZATAN
Coffee is on and Stay Safe

...the fear of books and ideas is a sad thing.
ReplyDeleteThe cult of ignorance
ReplyDeleteI would like to read The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian. It sounds interesting. With your read ins, do you all just read quietly to yourselves or do you all take turns reading a little bit from your book out loud? Do you have discussions?
ReplyDeleteI hope your library issues can be resolved, I think if some voters are working they should be able to send postal votes. Sorry haven't commented much lately, been busy, will only comment now if I have something useful to say. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you find out when they do the story on your read in, let us know.
ReplyDeleteI downloaded "Banned Books" - looking forward to read it and, oh, I crave Mexican food!
ReplyDeleteI was in our local library this morning and they had a display of banned books. I went over to the librarian and asked if he had heard about your local situation and he had. I thanked him for the display and expressed my appreciation for librarians. I know what is happening in your town could easily happen everywhere - no one is safe. Margaret Atwood, among others, would be so proud of you and the others participating in the Read Ins. I've read The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, incidentally, and I highly recommend it. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteSeptember 1! Gosh where did August disappear to?
ReplyDeleteI read I Know Why Caged Bird Sings...By Maya Angelou. I enjoyed it. It was sad, but well written.
