Yesterday didn't turn out like I thought it would. The plan as I understood it. I was going to drive Liz down to behavioral health center in Kootenai County for tune up. I thought the medical system was full of hoops to jump though. But the BEHAVIORAL HEALTH is entire different thing. It could even be more easier to get in Fort Knox. Than get service for ones mental issues.
This is how one get admit to behavioral health center, a lease here in Idaho. One need to go to the local emergency room and tell them your having a mental health issues. Than a emergency room doctor who may or may not have much training in the field of psychiatry. If the doctor find your mental unstable than your on your own way to get help. Than there the issue if there is a bed in an behavioral health unit. The one in Kootenail County only has 26 bed unit. And next close behavior health would be Lewiston Idaho, 20 bed unit. So not much services. If you need mental health help they will find you an hospital bed, til something open up.
With Liz all sort of reports was send down to behavioral health down there. Explain what is going on. And hopeful that might have some pull.
People who been in out of behavioral center has there own lingo. Liz was worried she might have to spend a little time in Nurse Ratched ward. This time she going down under different circumstance. They didn't know exactly what they were dealing with. She tried to commit sucide or harm her self. Well what every she had to flowen out on helicopter.
The two county here BOUNDARY COUNTY and BONNER COUNTY hospital has inpatient behavioral health ward. And KOOTENAI COUNTY handles there mental health issues, plus others. Opinion time...Every county should have an impatient mental health ward. Even if it to handle 1 to 5 percent of local people with behavioral issues. They have right to services.
Off to Kootenai nut house, not sure what will go on. The good thing is she isn't send by courts, ambulance, or by local law enforcement agency. So there could be less likely chance of her going One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo Nest ward.
Last little while I been playing with some anxiety issue. I been working on my I statement. And what they brought them on. Confession time...some is pretty scary. This morning I was suffering from depression, more depress than usual. I actual don't get depress usually. To me anxiety hits a lot harder than the depression.
So slow the depression start to dissipate. Some time my left hip and lower back start to hurt. I was washing out lower part of Regis fridge and being on my hands and knee was more comfortable. But when I got up. It didn't go all that smoothly and I couldn't get up. Had things tumble down on me. I did manage to get up. Clean up stuff I spilled.
I'm at border line as for pain, that I could use some pain pills. Took some MELOXICAM the hot bath seem to help more. I will take some muscle relaxer before I go to bed.
I really want to go to our local book club thing at Pearl. They had a local Author as a guest speaker, WILLOW FELLER. If I went I might of bought one of the books. To support a local business. But I just can't see me really picking a book like that in library. But who knows.
No artist today and I doubt I will post one Friday.
Coffee is on and stay safe
If you wouldn't pick a book like that in a library, then don't buy one just to support local business. There is no point in spending money on a book you may never read.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about Liz and hope she will be okay.
I have had times when my back feels better when I get on hands and knees. I crawl around the house like a baby to get to my chair or to bed.
At least you know yourself and how to manage your issues. It is nice to support local businesses but only if they have something you really want.
ReplyDeleteHope you soon feel better, look after yourself! Valerie
ReplyDeletePublic mental health care in Oklahoma is non-existent now. Back in the 90's the republicans shut down all the mental health facilities saying they were going to do community treatement. Well that didn't happen so now our county jails are the mental health facilities. Just sad!
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon Dora the weather is better now at least.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better really soon and I hope Liz will be okay.
ReplyDeleteThe same thing happened with my brother when he was feeling suicidal a few years ago. He had to go to ER first and see a doctor. They wanted to transfer him to the mental hospital but there wasn't a bed so they tranquilized him and strapped him to a bed there in the ER for 12 hours until they could find him a bed and transport him by ambulance. He said he'd never go in for help again after that.
ReplyDeleteThe star of healthcare in this country is a disgrace.
ReplyDeleteOh my, what a mess to get Liz some help. So, did she get admitted or not?
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon, Peppy, both mentally and physically.
