Got back from seeing Sam and Amy safely. Amy and I did mange to see the GONZAGA UNIVERSITY URBAN ART CENTER, the them was “HOME: Imagining the Irrevocable”...Black history month group show. I like the word “collaborative” better than group.
It was a small show, but I believe over time. If one gets the word out it can expand. Looks like it start in March of 2020. Than came covid and put a kibosh on things.
Next exhibit will be MMIW “Missing and Murdered Indigenous Woman” I would also like to see this one. But because of financial situation. It impossible for me to go to all the events. But I feel lucky to get to those I can.
Than we went up to the JUNDT ART MUSEUM The current showing is “Bible In Arts” It had a lot more.
Actually now I could retire and get my social security. But I'm not going to, I would take a major cut. Doing personal care in other home can be draining physical and emotionally. So I will finish this year full time. Than starting in 2023 I will start cutting back my hours. So my clients will have chance to get replacement. So actual when I'm SIXTY FOUR then I will sign up for social security. But who knows. I can't do this job until I'm seventy.
We talk a bit about staying or moving. There pro and cons of it. For now I think we're going to stay here.
Not trying to come across as a snob. The only reason I would move is for culture and intellectual stimulation. There been groups and or individual who dislike intellectual, and want to put end to there lives. So called ANTI INTELLECTUALISM Is well and alive in our society TODAY.
I would guess they're people who would like to have culture in our community.
One don't know when one will pass over. I have some long live relatives who made well into there 90's and one even a pass one hundred.
Three of my mom siblings are living. All of them are in there 90's.
So at later date I could sell and moving into some other living arrangements.
Once I retire I could be come more involved with our local culture. We do have an artist and quilting group. I been to couple of there gatherings. Having a job, it takes priority. If I don't show up to work, no pay check. Some of the people in those group didn't get that. We did have a local writing group. When covid hit it was dissolved.
But like most of area, it seems most people and or groups are entrenched in there ideals and believes.

ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures today. Is Anti-Intellectualism really a thing? Who would object to people being smart and knowing how to think and learn? I'm not so smart myself, but I admire those who are.

ReplyDeleteIt's the one thing I miss most about being in this pandemic. Going to museums. It's not that I worry now possibly getting covid, I follow guidelines...It's just trying to get back out and into the normal now I can't get past. I need to see some art.

ReplyDeleteI recognised the Impressionist style straightaway but didn't realise there was a movement outside of Europe. I like Frederick Carl Frieseke's work very much. x
ReplyDeleteYou never know about pensions. I took mine early. My BIL didn’t and then he died before collecting for very long.
