Nothing To Spooky

Not much go around here on Halloween. I live to far from town and the homes are to far apart for people to take their kids trick or treating. But as must year I get some candy. This time I got some rollos.
But the odd occasion we have had a trick or treaters.
I haven't seen that many place deck out for Samhain. The trouble around here that lot of people here around heavy into the Evangelical...I call it evilgenitality....I can imagination a few preacher speaking against it...I won't say no more.

I believe this is the last day of samhain sirens 2012
but sense there was one day cancel because of Sandy. They could possible be a make up day...I'm not loosing any sleep over it.

Pumpkin Cheeseball

With a mixer, blend 16 ounces room-temperature cream cheese with 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar, 3 tablespoons minced onion, 2 tablespoons salsa, 2 teaspoons ground cumin and 1 teaspoon minced jalapeno. Scoop onto plastic wrap and use the wrap to form the mixture into a 5-inch pumpkin-shaped ball; chill at least 2 hours. To serve, unwrap, roll in crushed nacho-flavored tortilla chips and press a bell pepper stem into the top.

Head Of My Self and Confused.

I don't why I function on a Tuesday and a Thursday schedule. Never mine about Wednesday like it never even took a breath.
I was thinking Thursday I had to in to my T.O.P.S meeting and that is up Tuesday Morning...I had no gain weigh in.
Then for some reason I thought once again the lady who takes care my asthma medication was in today. Knowing that she comes on Thursday and still thinking today is Thursday.
There some program at our local clinic help people get there medication free or at discount. They help me get my asthma medication. If I didn't get some type of assistance it would cost $200 a month.
But some reason my medication hasn't came in and it should been hear a week ago.

For some how I did keep my day straight when I went out to Ellie place. But before I headed out I made my self a grill cheese and tuna sandwich with some tomato soup, I thought I would like it as I had in the pass.
The sandwich was ok but the tomato soup was just yucky. It was one of the heat and serve that Murphette left hear....Statement time...I just don't see how they even ate the crap they do.

At Ellie place I clean out her oven and wood stove. Then clean out her freezer.
I keep having to remind my self she don't move that quickly and her body isn't friendly to her. If I work study at task above it should of only to 1 to 1 ½ hours to do

So today Murphy headed up to help Quenella getting her electrical together. She has alternative power. A generator and solar panels.
Actual He was a little nervous about going up and helping her he wasn't sure what she had gotten. I guess she got I think is a 40 watt battery charger and 4 golf cart batteries.
So he put in batteries and hooked it to the charger as she asked.
Went out and tried to start up her generator up. Well it never started up. Found out she hasn't started for 3 weeks.
At one time she let the oil run dry. Plus she didn't know anything about vehicle and antifreeze her husband took care of that stuff. Now she learning how to do that kind of stuff now.
Well if she went first I believe he would be having an education as much as she is.
Well because of Sandy on East Coast there no samhain sirens....So no recipes.

I did get a pear pie made for Murphy it was the worst crust. I ever made it was hard to roll out. Usual I can make a pretty good crust.

Coffee is on.

Not Sure About the Bridge.

This year or just for the month of October I took part in two blog projects. One was Nablowrimo short for “national blog writer month” which one is to blog everyday for the entire month...One year I blogged everyday.
Then also an on line blog party called Samhain siren or anther word Halloween. Confession time...I'm not sure what siren means when it comes to Halloween stuff.
They offer a day of stuff like crafts, folklore, recipes and more.

Will I do it next year....I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. But a few changes would be nice. Like have Nablowrimo in anther month other then October.
It seem like they weren't any Christians that participate in Nablowrimo but those who follow what I call “Earth Base Faith” did.
As most people all ready know that some Christians, Judaism, and Muslims won't take part in other faith then there own...they believe it from the devil....No more to be said....and that there choice.

Now for Samhain siren will I take part next year. First of all I don't know they'll have one in 2013. I to will have to wait until I'm ready to cross that bridge. It didn't take me all that long to write my daily post about Sanhain. But those who been doing this blog sure don't look like an easy feat.

Sugar Skulls for Dia De Los Muertos

2 cups powdered sugar
1 egg white
1 Tbs. corn syrup
1/2 Tsp.  vanilla
1/3 cup cornstarch
food coloring
1 fine paintbrush

Directions:

Sift powdered sugar.

Mix the egg white, corn syrup, and vanilla in a clean bowl without a trace of grease.

Add the powdered sugar with a wooden spoon. When almost completely mixed, start kneading with the tip of your fingers until you can form a small ball.

Dust with cornstarch on board.

Keep on kneading until smooth

Put dough into a plastic bag and chill. It can be left there for several months. Mold into skulls.

Paint the figures when they are dry. You can use colored icing.

Both of my son made sugar skull. I've never tried it ...Today I made 2 pear pie and for some reason the crust was difficult to work with and I used this recipe a lot of times.

This time they look like a pretty neat giveaway from twysted thystle and she offering a  1 Cinnamon Skin Sugar Scrub, 1 Cinnamon Skin Body Oil, and 1 Cinnamon Lip Balm.

I took a few moment I pop over to her Herbal Teas and to see what kind of combos she list and “frosted bite herbal” sound interesting to me

Now there more at Samhain Siren...please click here

Now there plenty of other stuff has happen in my life not all the exciting. I real don't want to much of excitement in my life. If there was to much excitement in my life I would be jail.

Today was my last day at Joel and Candy. I don't know if anyone is going out there. That's not my problem is it. They had a entire month to get it straighten out. Idaho Partner in Care the home care agency they were going though could find anther person to go out.
I've got my doubt they even looked for someone else.
Or Candy could go though the yellow pages and look under homecare give them a call to send someone out.
Anther thing is to call medicaid and get list of homecare agencies in the area.
But the way it looked nothing been done and everyone had plenty of time to get things settled.

I don't believe Alice is going out there after the end of the month. She has some craft shows coming up plus right after Thanksgiving she heading to Detroit to see family. Her daughter Katie will be traveling along.

If they lived closer by I would stick out until Murphy got his social security check which is end of January.
For some reason there paying him the 4th Wednesday of the month.
Actual I rather deal with him then her.
Opinion time...medicaid has the home-care program sat up it just hinders a lot of them.

Well a few more day with nablowrimo

Coffee is on.

Off Subject...But Force Humor

I was starting to wonder if I was going to get back to clean out the shed/barn. Had come to dead halt. There was box needed to go though such as piping, rain-bird sprinkler head, and what in general I want Murphy to look at this closely.
I was thinking I might have to stand my ground and give him a reasonable time to help me go though it. Or I would take things in my own hand and go though it. Oh well if something did get tossed out.
He was actual glad to help me go though it. Saturday we went though two shelves.
I wonder how we got so much stuff and no room to really keep it all. I don't want to rent a storage unit and I don't want or need bigger place.

We went though the box of pears we bought and dehydrate them. Both Murphy and I like dried pears. We still have some left in box. It was suggested that I make a pear pie.

I didn't think we need to in to Walmart which is a drive to Sandpoint about 30 some miles. But Murphy thought we needed some items. Statement time...I don't like going in the store and going shopping.I spend the entire time looking though the jean section and couldn't fine any thing that would fit me. I did fine one pair an pair of elastic which I call granny jeans.
It was quite depressing.
Before we went into wal-mart we stop in at Big R a sort of hardware and feed store. We were looking for a shovel to remove snow with. We did fine one that both us were comfortable with.

After shopping I ran up on Katka Mountain and got Quenella she needed a few items in town. But the main thing she need was to get her eye drops. But at first when she went in to pick it up it would cost her about $200. But she went today with her medicare card and she got some type of coverage to help her pay for medication. It came to just under $20.00

Now a moment back up to the first paragraph. One thing I learn or watch others do in there marriage is yell at each other with empty threats...In general I have to say he and I don't do that.
I know if he says he going to do something and also with me.

Coffee is on.

Weekend PhotoHunt (On the Shelf and Spooky)

I have some old things on the shelf in the dinning room. I have some old things up there. The cracker tins where my grandmother Olive and now we keep our cookie cutter in them.

I believe we can be in for some more spooky time with our economy. I believe there a lot of factors why our economy is going to be lop sided.
The banks didn't learn or wasn't made to really change how they operate.
Plus the possible up coming trouble in middle east, China, and Russia...Let hope nothing big happen in Syria, Iran and Israel (Middle East) and if something goes majorly opps there...Russia and China is going to back not Israel..watch our money go down the tubes.
I could bring more factor in to this but I figure what I said is spooky enough.

Next weekend photo hunt will be anger and or seasonal

There still lot going on over at samhain sirens and only I'm leaving the recipe today.

Caramel Apple Cider Boo Shooters
1 cup apple cider

4 tablespoons caramel

Halloween sprinkles

4 slices of apple

1. Dip four shot glasses in the caramel and then dip them in the Halloween sprinkles to rim the glasses. Make little boo faces on the shot glasses with a Sharpie if desired!

2. Pour the cider into the shot glasses and garnish with apple slices. Drizzle any remaining caramel over the apple slices. Serve!

Some time in past of this October I took a look at these charm made by Elegantly Enchanting and how I recall admiring them. Now it's being given away.

Plus there more and more fun things over at samhain sirens and Ms K wrote a bit on “Season of the Witch”

I was thinking about paper work and how I should actual handle it. Which includes voting stuff. Well I'm thinking just going into Boundary Court House and casting my ballot. Couple of reason just to get it done and over with. Then my friend Quenella is having her eye operated on election day.

Well here in Boundary County there ballot don't have many position to fill most of our un-poised. There only 4 position I need to make a choice for.
There 5 new laws in Idaho we will voting No or Yes for. Actual one I think they wasting Ink on. On all of them I'm voting “No”

Well I got a letter from headquarters place I work for and medicaid (mostly medicaid) is just making things a real pain in ass. There making our paper work so difficult that one needs to have an doctoral in accounting.
Confession time...I just fill out my paper work way they want to see it....there happy and stupid.
There reason or thinking every takes a piss and crap at 3:15 in the afternoon.
I'm getting my self out of it some how.
Most people who works in this field don't last long in it...There is a high rate disability claims on this job for physical or mental stress.
Actual when it comes right down to it the client and medicaid is equal stressful.

Coffee is on.

I Believe I'm doing More in Life then (Samhain Siren and NaBloWriMo

End of October is pretty much here. I been taking part in two blog events one is Samhain Siren and the other is NaBloWriMo.
Samhain Siren is a blog about Halloween Celebration. I'm not going to explain it but I'm leaving a (link) todays celebration...farther down in blog
In November there is National Write A Novel Month. I don't see my self taking part in Novel of the month. But soon as I fine the scoop on it. I'll do a blurt on it.
Now those who wonder what is (NaBloWriMo) it simple it to blog everyday for the month of October.
One may ask how I'm doing...I missed one day of blogging.

Ms Vicky is giving away some Mini wax burner and some pumpkin spice. She has what I would call a blog
which looks a feels friendly.
Mummy Head Candy Apples

Ingredients:
8 small apples,
8 sticks,
2.5 cups white candy melts or coating wafers (14 oz),
chopped black paste icing color (not liquid food color)

1) Wash and dry apples; remove stem and blossom ends. Insert wooden stick into stem end of each apple.

2) In medium microwavable bowl, microwave candy melts uncovered on High 45 seconds or until melted; stir until smooth.

  1. Dip each apple in melted coating, turning and spreading to coat. Let stand on waxed paper until firm. With fork, drizzle remaining melted coating (reheat if necessary) across coated apples in zigzag fashion to look like mummies. With black paste icing, pipe eyes on each apple. Let stand until set.

There other spooky stuff over at samhain siren today

If your wondering if my life is so routine. Confession time...I know it is and I feel like some time I just grumble about my job (home-care/personal care) outside of the home.
I haven't done any major effort toward any my goals. But recently I've done more time in the homecare area. But like I said that I won't be going out to Joel and Candy after this month.
The little bit of income does come in handy.
Working with Faith really don't feel like a job. Statement time..I'm surely not looking forward going out to Joel and Candy place.
I started Ellie on her place and she told me about this new way of cleaning window and it works fantastic.

Here the recipe....
¼ cup of corn starch
½ gallon of warm water so the corn starch can dissolved.
Take a rag and get it wet in the corn starch mixture and ring out your rag and start washing your window. Do a small area and dry with a paper towels. I personal like newspaper to dry my window with.

This was the best window I've every cleaned in my entire life.

These are the three ceramic project I been tinkering with. I believe the largest one might be hard to figure out. It was part of a book ends. I picked it up at the Good will in Sandpoint and thought it might be a decorative piece in a masculine theme.
As one can see I been working on two ornaments.

I need to do more organizing and increase my inventory before I can really set up a ceramic business.

One may fine some interesting blogs over at NaBloWriMo there a list on the left hand side who is taking part this year...2012.

Lack of Understanding.

To understand is only choice. But it is how we come to a decision that may or may not be worthy.
  1. Really don't understand
  2. Don't want to understand or the need to understand
  3. Understands and feel no need to react...doesn't have any effect either way.
  4. Has there own thought on something...but may or may not have an understanding.
  5. Choose not to understand for what every reason.

I sometime wonder about people. My friend Quenella has a hang up about the sun and water. She isn't a big fan of the sun and or water complete covers her body from head to toe. But takes most of the trees down around her place. Now she asking Murphy to move the last two pines. Which I think our beautiful trees.
She has alternative power and she has solar panels and with lack of Sun it's not getting it's full potency. Opinion time....It would be better to move the solar panels.
As I said above she isn't a fan of water... no running water in her home. One day we were disusing bathrooms. Can't recall if she ask me or told me. That the ideal water running on her shoulders bothers her. And wonder if it bothered me.
She gives her self a sponge bath. She surely don't stink.
I don't understand her thinking can't stand the sun and cuts down the trees.

Now the people I take care...I could go on and on about but I won't. I'm not sure if I understand the thinking behind how medicaid set up personal/home-care service in Idaho.
It so unbelievable how some of my clients choice to live. I haven't yet seen any of them force in living like shit.
There both idiots equal value, state and client. I don't understand why the state keep funding home-care.

There people who don't understand me. Being an honest person I may not communicated always top notch.
But I try to understand and if I don't. I ask good question so I will understand so I can make the best decisions.

Now let get going on over at Sahaim siren. I never thought of crocheted witches hat. shadow witch
is giving away the three hats you see right above.
I never even thought of crocheted witches hats. Confession time I haven't done any crocheting since high school and the only thing I learn to do is a simple single chain stitch.

Click on the word hat and it will take you to and good write up on hat...of course witch hats.

I love to be in the kitchen so I'm copy and paste feature recipe.

    1/4 cup vegetable oil
    3/4 cup packed brown sugar

Normal Whats That

I thought I would start this post with recipe which I got from Samhain Siren and today theme is normal
Vampire Blood Tomato Soup

Ingredients
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 fennel bulb, chopped, about 2 1/2 cups
1/2 large onion, chopped, about 1 cup
4 cloves garlic, smashed
1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon fennel seed
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional
1 (28-ounce) can plum tomatoes, preferably San Marzano
2 cups homemade vegetable broth or low-sodium canned
2 cups tomato juice
6 basil leaves, torn
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Fresh ground black pepper, to taste

Directions
Heat olive oil in a medium sauce pot over medium-high heat. Add fennel, onion, garlic, salt, fennel seed and crushed pepper, if using, and cook until vegetables soften and brown slightly, about 5 minutes. Drain and reserve juice from the tomatoes, then crush tomatoes gently with your hands. Add the tomatoes, increase heat to high, and cook until they begin to brown slightly, about 5 minutes.

Add the reserved tomato juice, vegetable broth, tomato juice, and basil leaves. Bring to a boil, stir, reduce heat to medium low, cover and cook until vegetables are cooked through and soup reduces and thickens, about 30 minutes.

Remove pot from stove and puree the soup in batches, with an immersion, regular blender, or food processor. Stir in lemon juice and season with pepper to taste. Serve.

Muenster Sammies with Apple Jelly:

16 (3 1/2-inch square) slices Westphalian Pumpernickel, or other thin black bread
1/2 cup apple jelly
8 slices muenster cheese, about 3 ounces
8 slices yellow cheddar cheese, about 3 ounces
Optional garnishes:
Dill pickle rounds
Fennel fronds
Spanish olives with pimentos
Special equipment: Cookie cutters (pumpkins, ghosts, black cat, bats and witches), optional

Toast bread in toaster or toaster oven until slightly crisp, about 5 minutes (or less if using a toaster.) Spread one side of each slice of bread with apple jelly. Layer the cheese over the apple jelly, top with remaining slice of bread. Cut out as desired. Garnish as desired.
Now there is a give away over at Pagan Mart I have to say there stuff looks reasonable price. I didn't see any but I would like to purchase some yule cards with a “Yule greetings” inside. I already bought my Christmas cards for this year...I got them right after last year “Christmas Sales”

It was an easy day since I haven't woke up. Before I took Quenella in to Sandpoint to see the eye doctor. I took care of some small errands that took less then 10 minutes each.
The 6th of November Quenella.
She had one stop which was super drug to return some type of screws and she got 5 practical candles. I went over to Big R and bought some yo-yo. That what our great grand niece and nephews are getting for Christmas. I haven't yet seen anyone you didn't like a yo yo.

Last Straggler

I finely got my last piece of greenware cleaned. A thimble with a clover on it. But if I took some time I could of got a few more pieces in.
They can be fired on the next round. Well before I fire the kiln coming up I need to cast up some more ceramic or purchases some bisque pieces that needs re-firing, from a thrift store.

I'd like to pour anther round of molds. The humidity has a lot to do with casting ceramics. Right now it's to wet but it would be wise to do it when high pressure returns
What happens is what happens.
I sort of picked some different mold at random to pour. Even my watering can had a mouse nest in it. I like to pick variety of molds to cast. I got two plain mugs in this group.
Saturday afternoon Murphy and I went out to our property on the North Bench. There was a dead ole fir that Murphy ringed earlier in the season. Which now need to be felled, could be use for firewood later on. It's green and heavy.
I figure toward the end of January it will be just burnable. Depends on the weather and what else we burn with it...it should last one to two weeks.

Got some fence post cut for our orchard. Let say we got a little over half of the corner posts done.

My friend Quenella stops over after church service she attends the Orthodox Christian Church by my place. She enjoys the fellowship there. I been to couple of there services I thought the first one was pretty and the people were nice enough. Not saying I wouldn't go back but once you attended to me it would be quite boring and it wasn't total my cup of tea.
But after the first Sunday in November she isn't going until next spring. Quenella has eye problem and really shouldn't be driving.
I even ask her what was the sermon about today...It was on doing good deeds even if it isn't fashionable

My friend Alice and I been filling in out at Joel and Candy place. The end of this month I'm out of there. It to far to drive in winter for 16 hours a week. 4 hours a day....4 days a week.

So this afternoon (Sunday) I went over to Alice home to talk to her about this week scheduled.
So I'm working out there Thursday and Friday this week.
I'll probably go out on Monday the 29th. There a chance I might work out there on Tuesday and that might be my last day, it depends if I go out and work for Ellie or not.

Plus Alice and I disused or one would even called gossip. About the distant one has to drive...”stupid medicaid can't figure that is a factor no one wants to”...Jay..Jay the dog bites and also there little dogs piss and shits in bed that Candy sleeps in.
Alice also pointed out she eats horrible and the dogs eats off the plate the same time she does.
If they lived closer I would stick it out until January when Murphy gets his first social security check.

I also found out that my old client Donna lost her caregiver. We're both wondering why. I walk out one day and she just became more and more demanding.

One of my reader of my blog BBC said I was an official member of “THE INSANE CHICKS SOCIETY (TICS).” I even googled the term and nothing really pop up. I'm not sure if this is to insult me or not.
I have to say I did get laugh out of it...To live in this world now one needs to be a some what insane.
It's a mad mad world out there ...I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.

Coffee is on.

Weekend Photo Hunt (Park-Sassy)

It was no stroll in the park pruning and thinning out our raspberries.

A few time I got my mouth washed out with soap for being sassy. When I was younger.

Next weekend theme for photo hunt will be ON a Shelf and or Spooky

Chocolate Chip Cookie Frankenstein's

Ingredients

1 pkg. (16.5 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Mini Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar Dough

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

2 tablespoons water

Green food coloring

2/3 cup NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Mini Morsels plus additional for “bolts”

2 tablespoons or 40 NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Premier White Morsels

Chocolate and orange sprinkles

Directions

PREHEAT oven to 325° F. Grease and flour 40 mini-muffin cups. Cut dough into squares. Place one square into each cup.

BAKE for 10 to 13 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool for 10 minutes in pans on wire racks. Run knife around edge of cups; remove cups to wire racks to cool completely.

MELT 2/3 cup mini morsels in uncovered, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 45 seconds; STIR. Morsels may retain some of their original shape. If necessary, microwave at additional 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring just until morsels are melted. Spread melted chocolate on top of one cup; top with second cup. Press down slightly. Return to wire rack. Repeat with remaining cups for a total of 20. These are the heads. Let stand for 15 minutes or until set.

MEANWHILE, cut tails off of 40 white morsels to make eyes. To make pupils, dip toothpick into melted chocolate and make a small dots on bottoms of morsels.

PLACE a piece of wax paper under wire rack. Combine powdered sugar and water in small bowl. Add food coloring to desired green color. The glaze will be slightly thin, not spreadable like a frosting. Hold each head by seam and dip top cup into glaze. Return to wire rack to allow glaze to drip down over bottom cup. Repeat with others. Additional glaze can be spooned over the tops if needed. While glaze is still wet, sprinkle tops with sprinkles and press down lightly.

TAKE two morsel eyes and press onto glaze on top cup. For “bolts” use two mini morsels and lightly press onto side of bottom cup, using glaze for glue if needed. While glaze is setting, the eyes may slide; keep an eye on them and put them back! Allow to set.

There plenty to of spooktacy over at Samhain

Not So Balancy

Confession time...I wonder if I had something other then dial up I would spend less time on the computer.
I'm completing about buying a lap-top so when I go into town I could have a faster connection for a computer.
But today samhain sirens in on balance So if I had a better connection for a computer would it help me balance out my time or not.

Once again there is a give away and it is book makers. Given away by Elegantly Enchanting
Today recipe is a The Devil’s Blood Halloween Themed Cocktail by .barina
Capture the haunting spirit of Halloween by mixing up some Devil’s Blood at home. This drink is a refreshing twist on the Cosmopoliton in a dark disguise for the holidays.

Drink The Devil’s Blood:

Colored red sugar
4 oz cranberry juice
2 oz black vodka
Maraschino cherries

Start by rimming your glass with red sugar (moisten the rim, turn upside down and then press into a saucer containing the sugar - give it a twist for a thicker coating).  Fill completely with ice cubes and then about 3/4 of the way with cranberry juice.  Next, carefully add the black vodka over the cranberry juice by slowly pouring over a spoon. This will minimize any splashing & allow the multi colored layers to form.  Garnishing with a red cherry adds extra color and enhances the visual effect.

You can make ordinary vodka black by adding food coloring if unable to find at your local liquor store and substituting red corn syrup for the sugar allows you to create blood drips down the side.

So there more going on just click on the word balance above.

We worked on the shop/garage. Filled up all the trash cans and even got small box to go to the thrift store.
Sure not everything is clean out like it should be. But the electrical, garden, ceramics and etc are in there own separate piles.
Let say it was a good project to work on because it rain most of the day. If it wasn't raining there where 3 projects we could of work on. Which are the shed/barn, get fence post out on the North Bench, or get firewood.

But before we start to work on the garage/shed we took in the pick-up to have some tail pipe and muffler work done on it.
It cost us just under $140

Then we got home I made some scones which I got out of the October “Northern lights Ruralite”

Pear Nut Scones
1 ¾ Cup of all-purpose flour
1/3 cup of brown sugar
2 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon of salt
1/3 cup cold butter or margarine
1 egg
½ cup of half and half
