Beautiful and Creative Pop Up Number Twenty Four

Let face it some time when I drive my clients about. I just sit and by end of the day I feel it. Been a real nice weather. And these photos are taken from my front yard.
SKY WATCH FRIDAY

This is one pages I'm doing for SKETCHBOOK PROJECT which is held at the BROOKLYN ART LIBRARY.
This book is being based on astrology and as the planet Pluto travels though all 12 zodiac signs. Pluto since it so far from the signs, and there will be those who debate Pluto is a planet.  It takes Pluto 248 years to orbit the sun.  Pluto spend about 21 years in each sign. So Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus are consider generational planets.
This sketch page my take on, when Pluto is going though Taurus. The last time Pluto was in Taurus it was from 1853 to 1884 during the AMERICAN CIVIL WAR and RECONSTRUCTION. next time Taurus goes though Pluto will be in 2098 til 2129.
Question time...how would or what would you do to represent this time period? My ideal came from a bit of family history generation. The country was divide. And one of my family during this period lived in Kentucky which join the CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA but the ford family join the UNION ARMY as they were living in Confederate state.
I wonder how well they got long with there neighbors.
The back ground is done with both eye shadow and chalks. Used different tools to apply the back ground color. One of them and last is a sandwich bag.

It been a while since I painted any rock painting. Usual it slows up here because of the snow. So I hid this one by our local MUSEUM and someone did fine it and re hide it in anther location.
This is one of Artist Trading Cards recently done. The lips are done in lip stick.

  1. What a beautiful blue sky. So dreary right now - we are supposed to have three days of rain and cold weather here. My families hadn't immigrated to the United States by the time of the Civil War but I've read a lot of stories of families divided - even some famous one. It's unimaginable. Hi Dora - I've been reading, just not getting much chance to comment due to travels and company! Had to drop by today to say how much I love that scene from your yard and the painted rock. Your sketchbook project is most interesting and being Taurean, am very glad I'll miss the transit of Pluto! YAM xx

  4. Such an interesting post, I love what's inspired you to create your sketchbook. It must have been a very difficult time for your family with the county divide. Great use of lipstick on your ATC. Happy PPF Tracey.

  10. I love your skies. My Mother loved the blue Idaho skies. You are very creative. I am just starting to paint rocks and they are not very nice. I was really proud of one design until somebody said, hey, that is Walmart's Logo!

  11. I believe I have 8th grade US history next week. They're studying the Civil War and Reconstruction (at this time of year that's what they're usually on). I should ask them what they'd draw to represent this period of time.
